Tonight was the second meeting of area business owners who are concerned about how Cap and Trade and Healthcare legislation will affect their businesses.
Held at the Scottish Rite Temple at Brook and Gray streets, about 60 business owners showed up (many from the first meeting were unable to attend but sent information and ideas via proxy). We spent a few minutes working on suggestions for a name, and will vote on one this week. Then, we broke into groups and formed committees. I was on the issues committee. Other committees were PR, communications, events, and recruiting. Enthusiasm was very high. These business owners are extremely motivated to inform the public about the true nature and costs of the proposed legislation. A protest outside Congressman Yarmuth’s Louisville office is planned for Noon on Monday the 10th. The PR committee is working to both buy and get some billboards donated. A large protest rally is being organized, perhaps at Waterfront Park
